NOW That’s What I Call The ’90s

Welcome to the ’90s!

Just the other day I was searching online for the opening sequence to ‘The Secret World of Alex Mack’ and it made me very nostalgic. I wish I could watch that show along with Ninja Robots all over again. I’ve already watched ‘The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ from beginning to end and oh, the outfits I wanted to re-create. Unfortunately I don’t have any whisper of a colourful windbreaker…but my sister Ila did! (Jealous.)

Speaking for myself, the choice was so vast so I struggled to whittle my looks down to just two. Maybe I’ll post them separately in a future post; but as for this one, my first look was inspired by Rachel Green – but of course. I ‘d like to think that the above image makes us look like we’re a cast from a ’90s sitcom or something, heh.

3rd Rock From The Sun, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Buffy, Angel… We could reminisce for days.

For my second look, I wanted to channel a little bit of teenage angst and it was easy because I still feel the same way most days, to be very honest. Life sometimes chokes us as hard as my choker does, you know what I mean? Somebody please take this keyboard away from me.

THE SUBTLETY: Look at me leaning all casually as if I wasn’t trying to keep my wall clean by not actually putting my boot on it.
Setting up behind the scenes.

If you’ve been wondering who’s been taking our pictures, it’s been my camera on a timer all along! I know I’ve had some questions come my way so I thought I’d just let you know. I just had my Canon G7X Mark ii on a tripod and set it on a continuous timer of 10 shots at a stretch. There have been a lot of blooper shots and lots of me with my eyes closed.

A lovely lady called us “the cool kids on the block” and I was feeling it, not gonna lie.

Thank you so much for all the love on my various social media for these styling posts with my siblings. Although the ’90s mark a closing chapter for this series, we’re trying to think up of other themes we can try out. If you’ve got any suggestions that we can easily replicate, send them my way for sure.

Alright “dudes”, you’ve been “hella fly” but we gotta “bounce” now so smell ya later. “Boo ya!” – The Kurbahs

Styling ’80s Outfits with My Siblings

The ’60s, ’70s, and now the ’80s. We’re on a roll here, folks.

Man, did it take a long while to figure out my outfits for this one. Don’t ask me why it got so confusing because even I can’t tell you. In the end, I just thought to myself, “Okay, how would the folks from ‘Stranger Things’ dress?” and went from there.

I was really feeling the hair, by the way. If only I had the enthusiasm to style it this way more.

Ila was with us for this one but then had to go back to her coursework after. Why so studious, La La? I’m a bad influence, aren’t I.

I was trying to jump and hit my arm on my brother’s and…yeah. Ouch.

Cue Part II.

I went far out with the orange socks and silver flats combo but I like it! I’ll definitely be styling more of my socks this way with different shoe pairings.

We had a bit of a Marilyn Monroe moment but I won’t be showing you the moment after this one because our skirts were flying.

We’ll be trying out the ’90s next and I think that will be our last hurrah in this ‘Styling Different Decades’ series. If you have any other themes you’d like to see us try, let me know!

See ya later!
